Does style come with personality?

Style can be influenced by your personality but this is not a rule. There is always the "I have to wear a suit because this is the dress code" effect that most of the times makes you wear things that you don't like. The answer would be that style is influenced mainly by your personality, but not only your personality dictates your style. To learn more about different styles visit the Business Appropriate page.

Why is it always hard to find something good to wear?

Unless you do something about your closet, it is always going to be hard to find something good to wear, something that fits you perfect and that could make you say "I feel supreme". If you want to be prepared and have always something good to wear I suggest a seasonal re-organization of your closet-boutique. I have a explicit guide on how to do that in my book, My Closet - My Boutique: How to Organize Your Image

How can an image consultant help me with my business?

Either you're a one man firm or a big corporation, your business resumes to the value of your employees (even to yourself as your own employer). Your employees represent the human capital of your firm, improving your employees image you actually increase your firm's capital. People that trust their image trust themselves and their power to communicate, thus they communicate better, they are more productive, they have better ideas, overall they feel and they are better.

Is completely organizing/re-organizing your closet a one-time event? If not, how often do you recommend a thorough closet cleanup?

Each time the seasons change (a minimum of twice a year), you have to re-organize your closet. I have detailed this process in my book, My Closet - My Boutique: How to Organize Your Image.

How do I avoid messing it up again?

Remember your plan! When returning clothing to your closet-boutique, hang each item where it belongs. Also, remember not to return anything to your boutique that has lost a button, broken a zipper, or split a seam during the day. (Return that item to your closet-boutique only after it has been repaired.) When you notice that a garment is no longer "you", or no longer fits properly, then place it in a container for clothes to be given away or hang it in a separate closet. It no longer belongs in your closet-boutique.

When is it okay to shop without a plan?

How can I receive better service from store associates?

What are the pros and cons of wearing pantyhose?

Presenting an attractive, well-groomed appearance without wearing pantyhose can be an intimidating proposition. But, if you are up to the challenge, the "no hose" option is an empowering wardrobe choice.

  • Attractive, bare legs must be tanned, waxed, and moisturized. If you prefer to use a self-tanning lotion, be sure to select one that will not leave your skin with an unnatural "orange" tint.
  • Toes must be freshly manicured and free of all hair and corns.
  • Heels must be soft and free of calluses.
  • Feet must have no bunions, and legs must have no varicose veins.
  • Sandals or shoes should be well-made, and fit your feet perfectly.

The following numerous pitfalls should be observed: pale legs with apparent shaving stubble, dry or rough skin on your legs or feet, crooked toes, crusty heels, or worn-out footwear. Also keep in mind the fact that the perspiration which normally would be collected by your hosiery, now will be absorbed by your shoes, thus making your shoes wear out faster. (This is especially true with closed-toe shoes.)

Any of the above detractors will draw attention away from your agenda that day and toward your unsightly bare legs and feet.

What is the best image in the workplace?

In a business environment, the best advice is to wear hosiery with your closed-toe shoes.

What are trendy colors?

Trendy colors are in stores for one or two seasons. They are the most expensive clothes consideration because a trendy color will look dated very soon. Once they disappear from stores, they seldom will appear in public. Remember kelly green, avocado green, and mustard yellow. Classic colors tend to be dark and/or neutral such as navy blue, charcoal grey, black, beige, white and ivory.

How do I deal with thinking "I cannot afford the 'good stuff', but I can afford lots of 'cheap stuff'?"

or

How do I remind myself that well-made, thoughtfully selected clothing ~ in the long run ~ actually will be less expensive than cheaper, faddish outfits?

Pay a visit to some high-end shops ~ or departments within stores where you already shop ~ and take some time to familiarize yourself with examples of higher quality clothing. Discover the difference between labels, fabrics, and colors. Try on some of the better quality clothes, even if you do not plan to purchase them. Notice the difference between the high-end products and their less-expensive counterparts. Plan to add quality items to your wardrobe. I have never of heard of placing a negative-ion generator in a closet before, please explain. Negative-ion generators now come in small enough sizes they can hang from your closet rods. Their purpose is to purify the closet air and your clothes of the stuff you bring back home with you when you normally out and about in your daily routine such as: car pollutants, air-borne allergens, smoke, pet dander, and pollen. The negative-ion generator neutralizes body odors and stale, lingering smells. They run silently pulling the particles out of the air, onto metal collection plates that you wipe clean with a wet cloth. It is very helpful for people who have allergies.

I exercise on a regular basis. Where do my workout clothes best fit in my closet-boutique?

Keep them in your entry hall closet along with coats, hats, woolen scarves, athletic equipment, backpacks, and totes. It depends on if your gym clothes are kept in a tote for changing at the gym or if you change into gym clothes at home.
